Biography
Thomas George, Jr. is a board certified family nurse practitioner and doctor of nursing practice with 30 years of healthcare experience. His doctoral work and current practice focuses on evidence-based, patient-centered care of people with obesity and diabetes. He received advanced training in obesity medicine with the Obesity Medicine Association and the World Obesity Federation’s Strategic Centre of Professional Obesity Education (SCOPE). He is a certified personal trainer and weight loss specialist with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and maintains professional memberships with Endocrine Society, American Diabetes Association, Obesity Medicine Association, and The Obesity Society.
As a provider overcoming obesity, Thomas is passionate about helping others successfully treat this complex and chronic condition. This passion drives a busy schedule of speaking, teaching, advocacy, policy work, and community building, ranging from local health departments, schools, churches and civic groups to national organizations and graduate education programs. He serves as course faculty with Frontier Nursing University as well as a guest lecturer and instructor for several health and academic organizations.
As a Christian, Thomas strives to love God and love others through a ministry of competent and compassionate healthcare. He is married, has two adult children, and two granddaughters, and enjoys outdoor recreation and fun with family and friends.
