Routine Appointments (Well Child Care & Sports Physicals)

Parental Concerns: First and foremost, your child’s routine appointments are a chance to raise any questions or concerns. This can be anything from concerns regarding their behavior to a rash on their skin – we are here for everything.

Prevention & Guidance: Routine check-ups are an opportunity to be reminded of the safety recommendations for your child as well as any applicable screenings or vaccinations. The advice we give will depend on the age of your child.

Tracking Growth: We monitor the weight and height of children to ensure that your child is keeping track with their peers. A child who is not following the growth curve is at risk for failure to thrive.

Tracking Development: We will regularly have you fill out an Ages & Stages Questionnaire at your visit to determine if there are any concerns regarding the development of your child. These questions focus on the five main areas of development: communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem-solving, personal-social. Children who do not meet developmental milestones sometimes need early intervention or closer follow up.

Vaccines: We recommend following the American Academy of Pediatrics schedule of vaccinations in order to prevent your child from acquiring certain infections. We have our recommended vaccination schedule posted in all exam rooms. The State of Maryland also recommends a screening lead level and anemia screening at the ages of 12 and 24 months.

Sports Physicals: We are able to complete sports physical forms for your child. There is often part of the form for the parent/guardian to complete, and our providers complete the medical exam portion. When routine check-ups (well child visits) are completed timely – rarely is a separate visit needed for a sports physical.

Urgent Care (Same Day Visits)

We understand that having a child who is sick can be stressful. We will work with you to get your child in our clinic as soon as possible in order to prevent visits to urgent care or the emergency department. We strongly believe that the best care you will receive is from providers that know your child’s history. As a result, we have allotted appointment times each day for acutely ill patients in our practice. We also have rooms at our main office in Oakland as well as our Accident office specifically designed for our patients who are sick.

Chronic Medical Problems

Children and adolescents deal with a wide range of medical conditions, sometimes requiring prescription medication. We routinely treat conditions such as asthma, eczema, ADHD, constipation, seasonal allergies, acne, headaches, and more!
